Description

ANCAP (Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland) is a Uruguayan state-owned company founded in 1931 and is responsible for the production, refining and distribution of petroleum products, as well as the exploitation of the Portland cement monopoly in our country. Our mission is to ensure the supply of fuels, cement, and other essential energy products, contributing to the sustainable development of Uruguay. We are a diversified, innovative and efficient energy company, leader in the Uruguayan fuel market and committed to the incorporation of renewable energies, sustainability and the productive and social development of the country. At ANCAP we are undergoing a transformation process. We project ourselves as Industry 4.0 and as part of the energy transition. This is demonstrated by our participation in the first electric route in Latin America. We are responsible for managing the only oil refinery in the country, located in La Teja, Montevideo, where imported crude oil is processed to produce fuels and other derivatives. We also play a leading role in the biofuels industry, being one of the first countries in Latin America to incorporate biodiesel and ethanol into its fuel blends. In recent years, ANCAP has focused on energy transition, developing projects that seek to reduce carbon emissions and promote the adoption of renewable energies. In that sense, our company is involved in green hydrogen projects, one of the most promising initiatives to decarbonize the global economy. We play a crucial role in the Uruguayan economy, not only because of our contribution to the energy sector, but also because of our commitment to sustainability and innovation in an increasingly demanding global environment.
